Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for Developing Countries

Venue: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Training Workshop on Technopreneurship for Developing Countries was held in Kuala Lumpur from 11-15 March 2019. This training workshop was jointly organised by ISTIC and NAM S&T Centre in collaboration with Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change. It was officiated by Dato’ Seri Mohd Azhar Haji Yahaya, Secretary-General, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change who is also President of NAM S&T Centre. Director of ISTIC, Dato’ Dr. Sharifah Maimunah Syed Zin gave the welcome address and Dr. Amitava Bandopadhyay, Director-General of NAM S&T Centre also addressed the participants.

The workshop was aimed at:

  1. Providing exposure to various topics relevant to technopreneurship in order to improve technopreneurial awareness and knowledge as well as innovative skills.
  2. Creating awareness, understanding and motivation amongst participants by giving materials on technopreneurship and its role in creating impact, technology development, idea validation, opportunity assessment, business model, business planning and financing.

27 participants attended the training workshop. 6 participants were Malaysians while others were from Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Togo, Turkey, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe. 16 were males and 11 were females.
