Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark (LUGGp) Tour Guide Workshop: Kilim Karst Geotrail

Institute for Environment and Development, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (LESTARI, UKM) and Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) with the support from Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO (MNCU) had organized an outstanding workshop targeted for local tour guides within the Koperasi Nelayan Kampung Kilim’s community to introduce a sustainable quality geo-tourism products. The workshop which was held on 5 January 2021 involved around 30 participants with adherence to the standard operating procedure (SOP) during conditional movement control order (MCO).

The workshop was a part of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark (LUGGp) Training Module and a platform to enhanced the guidebook on Kilim Karst Geotrail as one of the conservation and geo-tourism site in LUGGp. The local tour guides are encouraged to use the guidebook as a reference to enhance their capability in serving the tourists. The workshop was divided into two sessions which are Intorduction on Geo-Tourism and site visit around Kilim Karst Geotrail involving geosites, biosites and heritage sites. The participants were also guided on the explanation techniques which could be used to capture the attention of tourists for each of the sites.

This workshop is hope to be the stepping stone in encouraging more local residents to be involve in geo-tourism activities such as homestay, handicrafts, food preparation, transportation and recreation which indirectly could also serve as their source of income in the future.займ под залог доли в квартире москвамени мен займбилайн займ на телефон
