International Jazz Day is one of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) initiatives in raising awareness among the community on the virtues of jazz as an educational tool that able to promote peace and acceptance in diversity, encourage respect between cultures and highlight the need for human rights and dignity. Officially registered as a member of International Jazz Day Organizer in the year of 2018, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), MALAYSIA is committed in uplifting jazz music within the local ground. In conjunction with the International Jazz Day that falls on 30th of April, UiTM Faculty of Music is annually devoted to conduct jazz day celebration with the help of the faculty’s students, alumni and staffs in reaching and conducting dialogue sessions with the general public.

This time round, UiTM-UNESCO International Jazz Day Celebration 2021 ‘Ethnotopia’ will display UiTM musicians’ bravery and creativity in experimenting and innovating arts by assimilating Malaysia’s ethnic and cultural elements within western jazz styles.
