International Training Programme on STI Policy and Management for Developing Countries (ITPS)

The International Training Programme on STI Policy and Management for Developing Countries was held in Kuala Lumpur from 17-21 June 2019. This training programme was organised by ISTIC in collaboration with Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change. The Training Workshop was officially opened by Dr. Mohd Mokhtar Bin Tahar, Senior Under-Secretary of the Strategic Planning Sector representing Dato’ Seri Mohd Azhar Haji Yahaya, Secretary-General, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change. Chairman of ISTIC Governing Board, Professor Datuk Dr. Halimaton Hamdan gave the welcome address.

This is an action training programme with two-fold objectives:

  1. to provide the participants an understanding of the basic elements in STI policy in support of national aspiration using the OMAR Model.
  2. to apply the templates of the OMAR Model in addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

25 participants attended the training programme. 7 participants were Malaysians while others were from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Tunisia. 11 were males and 14 were females.
