UNESCO Oversight Advisory Committee will have 2 vacant posts. Any candidate wishing to be considered for membership is invited to submit the application by e-mail to ios@unesco.org no later than 28 January 2022.

Additional information can be requested with Mr. Bernardin Assiene, Director of the International Oversight Service, (e-mail: b.assiene@unesco.org).

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The primary purpose of the Committee is to provide expert advice to UNESCO’s Director General and the Executive Board on the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, internal audit, evaluations, and internal oversight related matters.

  • The candidate should have recent and relevant senior-level experience in financial reporting, risk management, audit, and/or oversight-related competencies in international organizations or the public sector.

  • The candidate must be external and independent of the Organization. Persons formerly employed by UNESCO cannot apply. Once selected, he/she shall serve in his/her personal capacity, starting from the effective entry on duty, for a three-year term, renewable once. Members of the Committee shall neither seek nor accept instructions from any government or other authority.

  • Service on the Committee is without remuneration, but Members are provided with the standard Organization entitlement for travel and daily subsistence expenses to attend, on an annual basis, face-to-face meetings in Paris, with a frequency of two to three meetings a year. However, when the sanitary situation does not allow for face-to-face meetings, the Committee meets virtually through digital means.
