Acculturation Science and Technology Among Indigenous Children (SCI-TECH)
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with the support of the Malaysian National Commissions for UNESCO (MNCU) and collaboration with Makers@IIUM had organized a program Acculturation Science and Technology Among Indigenous Children. The program which ended on 18 December 2020, involved indigenous students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Senibai, Negeri Sembilan was a continuation from SCI-TECH 1.0 conducted in 2019 which had received overwhelming response from students, teachers as well as parents.
The objective of the program was to stimulate interest of indigenous children (primary school) towards science and technologies as well as the value of their culture. The first phase of the program is on team building, creativity and motivational activities through science and technology. Meanwhile the second phase of the program is more advanced where Robotic Technology was introduced with three levels of difficulties (beginner, intermediate and advance). Due to the pandemic COVID-19, the program was executed online, adapting to the new norm in teaching and learning.
Upscaling of the programme will be conducted once the pandemic COVID-19 situation is under controlled tentatively February 2021 where the facilitators from Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM will visit the school for the program enhancement.
