HON. DATO’ SERI MAHDZIR KHALID

MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND

PRESIDENT OF MALAYSIAN NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR UNESCO (MNCU)

 

The Honourable Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid, was born on 15 December 1960 in the northern state of Kedah. Holding an Honours Bachelors Degree in Education, he began his career as a teacher and peaked as a principal of a secondary school before venturing into politics. As a politician, he has served as the Chief Minister of the State of Kedah, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water and at present as the Minister of Education Malaysia. A strong believer in Education for All (EFA), Dato’ Seri Mahdzir believes in adopting a people- centric plan of action as a way to achieve EFA goals.
