DATARAN MERDEKA TO BE VENUE FOR HARI UNESCO MALAYSIA 2015

Dataran Merdeka and the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building vicinities in Kuala Lumpur will be filled with art and cultural activities for three days in conjunction with Hari Unesco Malaysia 2015 beginning Friday.

Members of the public are invited to participate in the activities lined up which include street chalk arts, shadow plays, Asean puppetry conferences and cultural performances.

The soft launch of the fifth edition celebration themed “Togetherness” was officiated today by Malaysian National Commission for Unesco vice chairperson Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad, who is also Education Ministry’s secretary-general.

“It allows people to reclaim public places and historical places for leisure with friends and families as well as participate in a variety of cultural activities, crowd sourced art installations,” said a release issued in conjunction with the Hari Unesco Malaysia 2015 soft launch.

Hari Unesco Malaysia is celebrated annually to raise awareness and promote Unesco’s role in ensuring sustainable development, eradicating poverty, promoting intercultural dialogue and maintaining peace.
